Science, Commerce and Humanities after Class 10
CBSE offers a wide elective list, and the exact combinations available depend on your school.
- Science — Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and/or Biology with electives; a common base for engineering, medicine and pure sciences.
- Commerce — Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics, often with Mathematics; a base for finance, CA/CS and business courses.
- Humanities / Arts — History, Political Science, Geography, Psychology, Sociology and more; a base for law, civil services, design and social sciences.
How to choose your stream
Base the decision on your interests and aptitude, the subjects you genuinely enjoy, and the degrees or careers you are considering — not only on marks or what friends pick.
- Check which electives your school actually offers.
- Look at the subjects required for courses you may want later.
- Many careers are reachable from more than one stream.
